December 2011

12/22 - Too busy.

Way too busy this holiday season, and it's not going to ease up. Shortly after the New Year, we leave on vacation. Yea! I promised my man that I would do a true, relaxing one this year...no computer, no writing. Can't break my word, not that I want to. So...everything is on hold until Feb.

Happy Holidays to all and see ya next year!!!!

12/03 - On sale.

I've added my Christmas novella, HOLIDAY HEAT, to the roster at Amazon & Smashwords and their distribution. A real bargain for under a buck with plenty of heat to warm your heart on a cold winter day!

November 2011

11/02 - Checking in.

Not much to report since I've been working on a suspense story under Chayse. It's going okey-dokey. I still have thoughts of other works, like the novellas I'd mentioned some time ago. I can't seem to work on more than one story at a time...unfortunately. C'est la vie. But since I don't have much to report, take a look at movie star Oded Fehr. Like...WOW. The man is hot. He could be a hero in any one of my stories or personal fantasies. LOL.

10/04 - Reader questions.

I've been asked the same questions by readers. Most want to know if I read reviews of my books. Some want to know if read reviews of other authors and who are my favorites. Still, some want to know if I review books. I'll start with the last question and work backward.

No, I don't write book reviews. It's not my forte, and there are plenty of people out there who love the the job. Unfortunately, I've heard complaints about reviewers (even some about readers and veiled authors[EEK!]): how harsh or lackluster they can be, inappropriate jerkism (click here for Nathan Bransford's blog ), misinformation, spoilers that ruin the read, etc, etc, etc. This kind of stuff goes with the writers' territory. Like screen writers, actors, painters, sculptors, and anyone subjecting their hard work to the cyber-arts world, writers need to grow thick skins and forget about it. Because I'm pretty straightforward, I'm not the person to do reviews. However, deliberately berating an author or their work is not part of my personality. But in today's cyberworld, anonymity seems to bring out the bully trait in people, the one reason I avoid reviews. It's human nature to follow the lead. People are like sheep. One bad troll leads to another and, before you know it, you've found yourself in a quagmire of bullshit. I guess what I mean is following the clicks online to get to the root of evil. It's not worth the useless effort. Read what you like or depend on people you have real confidence in. Everybody's taste is different.

I don't read reviews of other authors. I like what I like in different genres. I read new and seasoned authors writing for traditional publishers or self-published works. I've read good and not so good tales. As far as favorites, well, we all have them, but most of my favorites (a lengthy list, mostly males) pen stories that are outside the genres I write.

Finally, no, I don't read reviews on my books. See the first answer on some whys. I do have a thick skin though. But what does reading a review do for me? Nothing. I still sell books like other authors. My fanbase is far from huge and that's okay. I enjoy writing (sometimes I don't) and as long as I can sell a few books I'll keep on keeping on. There's not a malevolent person out there who has the power to slap my pride to the floor.

September 2011

09/09 - Focused.

Still working diligently on the suspense. I'm loving the characters and storyline. I've also been thinking on a few erotic short stories for e-readers. Problem is that I have trouble working on more than one story at a time and keeping characters straight!

09/09 - Dove in.

I'm in the game again, but this time I'm working on a Chayse Manning suspense. Check it out *H E R E* .
